Zoo Animal Activities for Preschoolers

Cristi Wuenschel

As an Experience Early Learning Blog Ambassador, we receive the Experience Early Learning preschool curriculum in exchange for sharing our honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, our opinions on amazing things for children are 100% our own. Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best judgement when planning activities for your children.

This month's theme from Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time) is A to Zoo Animals.

All month we're exploring a letter of the day and an associated animal and it looks to be so much fun!

This week, our topics are A is for Alligator, B is for Bird, C is for Camel, D is for Dolphin, and E is for Elephant.

For A, we created alligator habitat process art and played an adorable alligator egg number matching game.

While learning about the letter B and birds, we made birds that are “flying” in our room as well as doing an egg activity that meant drawing a number from a deck of game cards.

This "bird food" game was not only lots of fun but also a great hands-on way to practice counting and number sense.

We also matched letters to our alphabet book using "letter sticks" that we made from a printable that was included in our monthly curriculum kit from Experience Preschool and craft sticks.

On C is for Camel day, we made a really amazing "sandy letter c" craft and practiced "counting camels."

We wrapped up the week learning the letters D and E with the topics dolphin and elephant.

Don't forget to check back next week to see what we're up to as we review important preschool skills during our zoo theme with Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time).
