Getting Started with our Transportation Preschool Theme

Cristi Wuenschel

As an Experience Early Learning Blog Ambassador, we receive the Experience Early Learning preschool curriculum in exchange for sharing our honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, our opinions on amazing things for children are 100% our own. Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best judgement when planning activities for your children.

At the end of each month, we start getting ready for our new theme from Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time).

For November, that's On the Go, which means lots of learning about transportation. This particular theme is always a favorite for preschoolers!

This week, our topic is Down the Road and we're learning about the following: Road, Traffic Signs, Map, Bridge, and Service Station.

Today we're having lots of fun building a road, learning about road names, and making tire tracks. We receive lots of fun, play-based activity ideas in each of our preschool curriculum kits.

The discussion question for the day is, "What do you see on roads?" Our Teacher Guide from Experience Early Learning includes a new question each day to get the children thinking about the topic that we'll be learning about.

A new theme always means the opportunity to switch out our center activities and this month, our Block Center got a transportation-themed makeover with cars and trucks, railroad tracks, and of course roads too!

The children worked together during Circle Time to build both straight and curved roads.

We all enjoyed the adorable Tire Tracks math activity. We used wheel toys, rolling pins, and dough to explore rolling, kneading, and pounding dough in different ways.

It was such a wonderful first day of our new On the Go theme from Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time).

Don't forget to check back next week as we learn all about different types of transportation!
